Watershed Master Plans / Floodplain Management
AMEC-BCI has direct and noteworthy experience in virtually every type of natural Florida watershed physiography and waterbody type, freshwater and estuarine, with unique knowledge of sub-tropical streams. Recognized as an industry pioneer in Integrated Water Management, AMEC-BCI was one of the original firms to offer solutions which successfully blend the science and engineering aspects of watershed master planning and floodplain management. Within our project designs we excel at considering both watershed and receiving water dynamics and associated restoration requirements.AMEC-BCI’s watershed experts utilize Low Impact Development (LID) techniques which bring together elements of drainage science, ecology and the realization that traditional drainage solutions often transfer problems further downstream, negatively impacting the environment and water resources. AMEC-BCI’s Watershed and Floodplain Management project teams ensure project needs and goals are achieved in a holistic and comprehensive manner. These individuals work seamlessly to address many of the challenges affecting the health of waterways and water supplies in both rural and urbanized areas today. We strive to improve runoff quality, reduce the risk and impact of flooding and deliver additional water resources to increase potable supply. Additionally, five of AMEC-BCI’s key Water Resources engineers have earned their designation as Certified Floodplain Managers (CFM); these highly-qualified individuals are available to assist clients by utilizing their knowledge of water disaster losses to stop the negative drain on community’s human, financial, and natural resources.
