Hardeman Kempton & Associates | Lakeland, Florida | 2004 - 2005
 BCI was hired under our master parks consultant contract with the City of Lakeland to design and permit the 22.6-acre Westside Park. The park features restroom facilities, picnic shelters, four softball fields, a playground area, an all-purpose court and a walk path/trail.
The final park design incorporated delineation of playground mat areas, site grading for both pervious and impervious areas, and details for sidewalks and stormwater management areas. The stormwater management system was designed to meet the requirements set forth by the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). The design required special accommodations to repair eroded channel slopes and prevent future scour within an adjacent open channel conveyance.
BCI performed the following tasks:
- Boundary & topographic special purpose surveys to delineate existing site area
- Researched the subject property to identify soil type & utility information as well as GIS data & aerials of site
- Prepared site layout & final design based upon the conceptual provided by Hardeman-Kempton
- Prepared & submitted the site permit package for plan approval
- Prepared drawings & construction specifications for bidding purposes
- Reviewed as-built drawings & provided as-built certifications
