Integrated Surface and Groundwater Model of Phosphate Mine
Hardee County Phosphate Mine | Hardee County, Florida | 2004 - 2005

The results of modeling were used to characterize long-term wetland function and to demonstrate to regulatory agencies the potential impact to wetlands resulting from mining. GIS and integrated surface and groundwater models were used to model part of a 15,000-acre phosphate mine.

BCI modelers mapped data with parameters used in the Integrated Surface and Groundwater Model (ISGW), the Florida Institute of Phosphate Research (FIPR) hydrologic model, MIKE SHE, and Storm Water Management Model (SWMM).

BCI developed Avenue Extensions in ArcView that setup the hydrologic models used in investigation.

Fortran programs were written and used to place the parameter data in specific formats required for the model simulations.
