Before joining BCI, he was contracted in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Duke Energy, a Fortune 200 energy producer, to maintain SQL Server database information for ArcIMS Web applications. Mr. McKay provided project support to internal business clients, assisted with online services 24/7 application support, and developed detailed support documentation for the management and application support team. From 2007 to 2008, he was employed by Boyle Consulting Engineering, also in Charlotte, as a GIS and Aerial Photography Manager. In this leadership role, Mr. McKay directed all operational and business development activities for a start-up GIS department within a small engineering firm, including service development and implementation. Mr. McKay managed department finances, developed business relations, prepared and delivered RFPs and presentations, and negotiated contracts. As part of the start-up development, Mr. McKay was responsible for the recruiting, hiring, training, and the evaluation of personnel. He also created processes and guidelines.
In only three months, Mr. McKay accomplished the planning and implementation of a new custom aerial photography Web service, secured four key contracts with infrastructure and commercial developers, and developed all-new comprehensive department procedures and standards for structured work flow, thus simplifying on-boarding and cross-training, and reducing GIS analysis, image analysis, and flight-planning efforts by as much as 60 percent. Prior to being employed at Boyle, Mr. McKay had a four-year run with Ardaman and Associates Inc. in Orlando, Florida as GIS supervisor. He was responsible for implementing and managing GIS services to support the water resources department. He also worked as a GIS Specialist for three years for Thomas and Hutton Engineering in Savannah, Georgia. Mr. McKay holds a three-year degree in GIS technology from Algonquin College in Ottawa, Canada. He is a member of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, the Florida ArcHydro Users Group, and the Florida Environmental Systems Research Institute Users Group.
