City of Lakeland, TBE Group | Lakeland, Florida | January 2002 - 2006
BCI was retained by TBE Group and the City of Lakeland to provide a geotechnical assessment as part of an evaluation of one potential corridor for the proposed Edgewood Drive Extension in Lakeland, Florida. The purpose of the proposed extension is to provide a much needed east-west connection between Florida Avenue and Hardin Boulevard.
The subsurface soil exploration program utilized Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings, flight auger borings, hand auger borings and hand penetrometer probes to identify in-situ soil conditions. Split spoon samplers and shelby tubes were used to obtain disturbed and undisturbed soil samples. Laboratory testing consisted of tests for consolidation characteristics, strength, cohesion, water content, organic content, Atterberg limits and sieve analysis. Wetlands delineation services were also included as part of the assessment.
