As one of our most multifaceted teams, BCI’s Geographic Information System (GIS) Services Team provides extensive technical support to all of our other service areas. Led by a certified GIS professional, our group consists of individuals with advanced degrees in biology, geosciences and environmental science, whose combined GIS experience spans 35 years. Our team’s specializations include global positioning; ecological site evaluations; ground water, water distribution, and water quality modeling; remote sensing; and programming of preprocessors and application tools.

Avon Park Stormwater Master Plan

BCI was selected by the City of Avon Park to develop a stormwater utility that would serve to fund their stormwater program and enable the city to comply with state and federal legislative mandates such as NPDES and TMDLs. Immediately prior to this engagement, BCI was directed by the Southwest Florida Water Management District to develop a detailed citywide Stormwater Master Plan for the City of Avon Park.

Reclamation Cost GIS Model
Reclamation  Cost GIS Model

BCI was contracted to construct a GIS model to facilitate computing the costs involved in phosphate mine reclamation. The model was based on four GIS layers and associated cost estimates. The GIS layers needed for the model included a Mine Plan Reclamation Program, Post Reclamation Land Use, a Habitat Area Plan, and Mining Sequence Plan.
