GPR is a non-destructive geophysical survey method that uses radio waves (radar) to evaluate and map the subsurface. For most applications, GPR is operated in reflection mode and is used to produce a radar image of the subsurface. Given many recent improvements in equipment design, GPR is being applied to a wide variety of situations including mapping shallow soils and geology; locating buried metallic and non-metallic objects including tanks, drums, and pipes; water table mapping; and other geotechnical and environmental applications.
