P-5 Structure

Scope

P-5 StructureThe Southwest Florida Water  Management District (SWFWMD) maintains several structures along the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes in Polk County. BCI has provided comprehensive professional engineering services to Kisinger Campo & Associates (KCA) and the SWFWMD associated with these structures. As problems arise with the structures, BCI performs geotechnical evaluations and investigations to assess existing conditions.

One such structure assessed was the P-5 structure. Downstream seepage observed during high water periods was investigated by BCI. We discovered indicators of seepage and internal erosion of the earthen embankments that could jeopardize the performance of the structure. BCI prepared a remedial plan for the structure consisting of a slurry grouting program and partial embankment reconstruction, and  assisted in the bid solicitation process. BCI provided construction oversight services to ensure  compliance with project specifications.
